What drives the price
Size and range, new versus pre-owned, year and flight hours, engine condition, avionics and connectivity, and the interior. A well-kept pre-owned jet can cost around half the price of a new one.
Annual cost of ownership
Beyond the purchase there is crew, hangar, insurance, maintenance and fuel. As a rough guide: about $1M a year for a light jet and $3M–$5M a year for a heavy jet, depending on how much you fly.
Buy, lease or charter
Flying more than roughly 200 hours a year usually favours ownership. Below that, leasing or charter can make more financial sense.
